Family Therapy

Family therapy leverages the power and support of the family unit, aiming to strengthen healthy bonds among family members.

When is family therapy helpful?

  • For behavioural problems (e.g., ADHD) in a child or parent
  • For addiction issues in a child or parent
  • In cases of internal conflicts
  • When individual therapy hasn’t been effective
  • For anxiety and depressive symptoms
  • During divorce or in blended families
  • When dealing with (life-threatening) illness or the death of a family member

My Work Style

I am an approachable therapist who easily connects with others. My style is relaxed yet energetic and dedicated. I work with curiosity and without judgment. Conversations are often warm and intense, allowing us to collaboratively reach new insights. I provide a safe and structured environment where I help you improve communication patterns and work together to uncover the resilience in your relationships as well as foster personal growth.

When necessary, I take a practical approach by offering guidance and suggestions you can try at home. I work within a culture of feedback and challenge you to ask follow-up questions, ensuring that the most important topics remain clearly on the table. At the end of each session, I briefly evaluate how our collaboration is progressing and agree on practical actions you can take at home. After each session, I send a feedback form to help you reflect on whether you were able to express everything you wanted and what, if anything, surprised you.

How does family therapy work?

  • In family therapy, all family members are involved whenever possible, contributing ideas and participating on an equal basis.
  • The benefits include pooling strengths, exchanging more information, and having discussions in a calmer environment than at home.
  • Every family member (both parents and children) has their own voice.
  • However, the family hierarchy must remain clear: parents have the final say, but only after carefully listening to the children’s wishes and opinions.

Results

Family therapy works quickly, and changes tend to last because all family members inevitably change along with the process. This leads to lasting improvements. Feel free to email for a personal consultation or schedule a phone appointment. You’ll receive immediate advice on options that suit your family.
